Hans-Jörg Gaugelhofer was born in Villach, Carinthia, and after receiving musical training with the Vienna Boys' Choir, he completed a degree in Piano Performance at Bruckner University Linz. and started vocal studies with Prof. Gerhard Kahry in Vienna.His early engagements led him to perform in the lyrical repertoire of Mozart (e.g., Fracasso in *La finta semplice* [Theater in der Walfischgasse], Belmonte in *Die Entführung aus dem Serail*) and in the Italian Bel Canto repertoire (e.g., Conte Alberto in *L'occasione fa il ladro*, Borsa in *Rigoletto* [Schloßfestspiele Kirchstetten]).He is a member of the operetta company "Ensemble Oper@Tee," with which he has performed at numerous festivals and venues in Austria and Switzerland, including the City Theater of Wiener Neustadt, the Marchfeld Operetta Festival, and the Weinviertel Wagner Festival. His stage repertoire includes roles such as Alfred in *Die Fledermaus*, Graf in *Wiener Blut*, Adam in *Der Vogelhändler*, Symon in *Der Bettstudent*, and Rossillon in *Die lustige Witwe*.

In 2023, Hans-Jörg Gaugelhofer performed as Don Ottavio in *Don Giovanni* at the European Ballet Theater in St. Pölten, as "Lehrbub" in *Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg* at the Landestheater Linz (Upper Austria), as Miklos von Bököffy in the operetta *Der fliegende Rittmeister* at KUMST Strasshof (Lower Austria), as Tamino in "The Magic Flute for Children," and in various children's productions at "Oper in der Krypta" (Vienna).

In the field of oratorio and early music, he has made a name for himself as an Evangelist in various passions (e.g., for Musica Sacra Linz, Salzburg Concert Society, Clemencic Consort, Bach Week Vienna, Barucco Vokal), masses, oratorios, and Bach cantatas. He regularly appears as a tenor soloist at the Karlskirche and Peterskirche in Vienna, as well as in St. Pölten Cathedral music. From 2015 to 2021, he was engaged as a soloist at the Burgtheater in Vienna for the productions "Antigone" and "Die Bakchen."In the 2023/24 season, highlights include concerts with Barucco Vokal in Madrid at the Auditorio Nacional de Musica (Bach's *Johannespassion*), at the "International Baroque Days Stift Melk" (arias by Handel/Purcell), for the "Bach Week Vienna," and in Cluj-Napoca, Romania (Evangelist in Bach's *Johannespassion*). In June, he made his debut in the Mozart Hall of the Vienna Concert House with Franz Schubert's Mass in E-flat major alongside the Vienna Bach Soloists.

In the ongoing 2024/25 season, he will perform various Bach cantatas, including the Christmas Oratorio, at different venues, including two performances in Transylvania. The artist is collaborating with the orchestra 1756 on the performance of sacred works by Czech Baroque composers such as Jan Zach, Frantisek Brixi, and Jakub Ryba in the Karlskirche, Vienna.In January 2025, he will take on the role of "Pastore/Spirito" in Monteverdi's *L'Orfeo* at the "Mozart Week" in Salzburg, performing with the ensemble L'Arpeggiata under the direction of Christina Pluhar.
